Municipal programs of Moscow Center for Public Health and Preventive Medicine

Within the framework of implementing the regional “Strengthening the public health in Moscow" regional program, the purpose of which is to create a system for motivating citizens to lead a healthy lifestyle, follow healthy diet, give up bad habits, as well as to improve the population’s health and quality of life and develop a culture of public health and programs to improve public health in Moscow’s administrative areas.

According to the analysis of the socio-economic infrastructure of Moscow’s administrative areas (enterprises, educational organizations, consumer market organizations, sports facilities and organizations), an analysis of risk factors affecting the population’s health, the local healthcare systems’ potential, including the activities of local commissions and councils (on minors’s affairs, the industrial enterprises’ boards, etc.), as well as the prospects for involving NGOs and volunteer organizations in the work to strengthen the public health of the local population, all these measures will strengthen interdepartmental interaction in the administrative areas, which will help them solve the issues of strengthening public health. The work is carried out in accordance with the approved roadmap.

Five-year programs for strengthening public health in the South-Eastern, Eastern, Northern, North-Western and Southern administrative areas were approved. Implementation period: 2020-2024. This makes it possible to develop and improve Moscow’s priority socio-economic development aress, thus ensuring the continuity and the targeted nature of the implemented measures, making it possible to summarize and accumulate positive experience.

The list of target indicators for the program implementation includes:

creation of a system for motivating citizens to lead a healthy lifestyle, including following healthy diet and giving up bad habits;
increase in the number of Muscovites leading a healthy lifestyle by 2024;
increase in the number of Muscovites doing sports up to 55%;
decrease in mortality of the working population;
decline in retail sales of alcoholic beverages per capita.

These programs are interdepartmental, and the list of organizations that will be engaged in them includes:

- The Moscow Department of Education and Science;
- The Moscow Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Population;
- The Moscow Department of Sports;
- The Moscow Department of Culture;
- The Moscow Department of Transport and Road and Transport Infrastructure Development;
- The Moscow Department of Environmental Management and Protection;
- The Moscow City Construction Department, as well as prefectures and administrations of the city’s administrative areas.
