Statistics and analytics

Center for Medical Statistics is a unique entity in the Moscow public healthcare system that collects, processes and analyzes statistical data provided by Moscow organizations.

Areas of activity:
• organizing and managing medical statistical reporting systems;
• collecting and processing medical statistical data on the network, personnel and resource support of medical organizations and their activities, as well as the statistics on population morbidity, including within the framework of implementing regional Moscow healthcare projects;
• maintaining logs and lists of employees and resources, as well as keeping information about provided medical care and certain diseases;
• analyzing medical and statistical information of the health status of the population and the activities of healthcare institutions;
• publishing compilations, analytical researches and reviews, as well as providing visual and analytical support for management decisions.

Every year, the Center organizes the largest medical statistics event — the Congress of Moscow Medical Statisticians. The Congress also holds a contest “Best Regional Healthcare Management Practices using Statistics and Big Data”.

Every year the Center also publishes compilations of statistical data and analytical reviews covering population health as well as the issues of medical service provision in Moscow.

The Moscow branch of the Russian Association of Statisticians is operating at the Center. As part of cooperation with the Russian Association of Statisticians, specialists take an active part in the work of the Methodological Committee of the Trend competition: in 2021, for instance, they came up with a competition task in Health and Lifestyle of Schoolchildren category.

The Center also launched a new project, an electronic platform for cooperation and communication called The Faces of Statistics. Its goal is to establish and develop an open-access informal database that connects experts working with statistics in healthcare. The Center has developed and is now working on several projects aimed at continuously collaborating with medical organizations’ experts working in healthcare statistics, including:
Infographics – a graphic representation of key healthcare indicators;
Dashboard – a visualization for informing operation decisions.
